Tenant Setup Overview

A tenant is your isolated studio workspace inside the Serene Creations platform. It holds your contact messages, newsletter subscribers, team members, and all configuration for your public website integration. This article covers the three core setup steps: verifying your tenant details, inviting collaborators, and connecting your custom domain.

Before you begin

  • Complete Account Security first — your tenant is tied to the account you secure.
  • Have your domain name ready if you plan to use a custom domain (e.g. studio.example.com).
  • Know the email addresses of any team members you want to invite.

Step 1: Verify your tenant details

When you sign up, a tenant is provisioned automatically. Your tenant identifier follows the format your-studio.onserene.io — this is the default URL for portal access and any contact-form or newsletter API calls before a custom domain is connected.

To verify and update your details:

  1. Open the admin portal and go to Settings → Tenant.
  2. Confirm that Studio name is correct. This name appears in the portal header, in outbound email subjects, and in the sender line of newsletter sends.
  3. Under Settings → Billing, verify your billing contact email is current. Invoices and payment alerts go here.
  4. If any detail is wrong, edit it in place and select Save.

Step 2: Invite team members

Team access is managed under Settings → Team. Two roles are available:

Role What they can do
Admin Full access: configure settings, send newsletters, manage team, view all messages
Member Read access and limited write: view messages, compose newsletter drafts; cannot change settings or billing

To invite someone:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Team.
  2. Select Invite member.
  3. Enter the invitee’s email address and select a role.
  4. Select Send invite.

The invitee receives an email with a secure sign-up link. The link expires after 48 hours. If it expires before they sign up, revoke the pending invite and send a new one.

Pending invites appear in the team list with a “Pending” badge until accepted. You can revoke a pending invite at any time — the link in the email becomes invalid immediately.

To remove a team member, select their row in the team list and choose Remove access. Their active sessions are revoked and they can no longer sign in to your tenant.

Step 3: Connect a custom domain

By default your tenant is accessible at your-studio.onserene.io. Connecting a custom domain (e.g. studio.example.com) replaces this with your own URL and is required before the contact form and newsletter widget on your public site point to your tenant.

Custom domain connection flow — add domain, copy DNS records, update registrar, verify, SSL active

To connect a custom domain:

  1. Go to Settings → Domains → Add domain.
  2. Enter your domain (e.g. studio.example.com) and select Add.
  3. The portal displays two DNS records to add at your registrar:
    • A CNAME record pointing your domain to the Serene Creations edge.
    • A TXT record for domain ownership verification.
  4. Log in to your domain registrar (Cloudflare Registrar, Namecheap, GoDaddy, etc.) and add both records exactly as shown. Record names are case-insensitive; values must match exactly.
  5. Return to the portal and select Verify. The portal checks that both records are live.
  6. Once verified, SSL is provisioned automatically. This typically completes within a few minutes.

DNS propagation usually resolves quickly from the registrar, but can take up to a few hours depending on your registrar’s TTL settings. If Verify fails, wait 5 minutes and try again.

You can add multiple domains and designate one as primary. The primary domain is used in outbound email links and newsletter unsubscribe URLs.
