Organizing Your Inbox

This article covers message management: navigating the folder structure, acting on messages (move, delete, mark), and searching your mail.

The folder list appears in the left rail of the Communications section. Select any folder to open it in the message list panel.

Default folders:

Folder Contents
Inbox All inbound messages
Sent Messages you have sent
Drafts Unsent saved messages
Trash Recently deleted messages

Creating a folder

  1. In the folder list, select New folder (or the + icon beside the folder list heading).
  2. Enter a name for the folder.
  3. Select Create. The folder appears in the list immediately.

Renaming or deleting a folder

Right-click (or long-press) the folder name and select Rename or Delete. Deleting a folder moves its messages to Trash.

Acting on messages

Select a message to open it in the reading pane. From the reading pane or the message list, you can:

Moving a message

  1. Open the message, or select its checkbox in the list.
  2. Select the Move to folder icon (folder with arrow).
  3. Choose the destination folder.

Deleting a message

  1. Select the message.
  2. Choose Delete (trash icon).

Deleted messages move to Trash. To permanently delete, open Trash, select the message, and choose Delete permanently.

Marking read or unread

  • Right-click the message in the list and select Mark as read or Mark as unread.
  • Alternatively, open the message actions menu (⋮) in the reading pane.

Searching mail

The search bar appears at the top of the message list panel.

  1. Select the search bar and type your query.
  2. Results filter as you type.

Search covers sender name and address, subject line, and message body. Results span all folders.

To clear search, select × in the search bar or press Escape.

Trash and permanent deletion

Messages in Trash are held for 30 days before automatic permanent deletion.

To recover a message from Trash:

  1. Open Trash.
  2. Select the message.
  3. Choose Move to folder and select your destination.
